Rapa das Bestas de Sabucedo 2026

Sabucedo is a parish located in the south of the municipality of A Estrada (Pontevedra), with an area of 5.9 km². It has a single population and currently has no more than 60 inhabitants. However, one of the highest manifestations of authenticity, identity, and collective will of all those that make up our cultural heritage takes place in Sabucedo: A Rapa das Bestas de Sabucedo.

The Rapa begins by recalling the ancestral connection of horses with the divine. During the "dawn mass," protection is sought from Saint Lawrence for the animals and the people participating in the festival. Afterwards, a climb to the mountain is made in search of the horses. Residents and visitors collaborate in groups to gather the herds. Finally, on Saturday, they are led to a large enclosure in the village. The most spectacular part of the festival is the Curro, where the "aloitadores" and horses compare technique and strength hand-to-hand, to immobilize the animal and cut its mane.

The booking period for this event is over.
